The Bhunbhuni waterfalls is also situated within the Kanger Valley National Park. Bhunbhuni waterfalls is very close to Tirathgarh waterfalls, approx 5kms away. While visiting the Kanger Valley National park, one can visit 5 different beautiful waterfalls, which are made from the stream of a single river. The beauty of the nature is unpredictable and hence the existence of the most vulnerable and the beautiful scenic beauties can be seen in different places. As you enter the park, the silent atmosphere and the roaring sound of the waterfall gives you an immense satisfaction of the nature.
The waterfalls has its originator at a very less distance from the fall. A lake is considered to be the origin. The water flows down the lake in a traversed way passing through many streams. The Bhunbhuni waterfalls has its own versions, during the summer and monsoons. The waterfalls are overflowing during the monsoons, wherein the water gushes slowly and calmly during the summers. Contrary, during the summers, the water falls through a stepped mountain giving a different view altogether.
Visiting Tirathgarh also brings you near the best mountain waterfall, Bhunbhuni Waterfall. Despite being less popular due to its distance, this beautiful waterfall holds a unique charm. Like any nearby waterfall, Bhunbhuni offers plenty to explore, including ancient temples and Shiva Lingas. Though not frequented by pilgrims, these architectural wonders are a sight to behold.
The Maria tribes and their flea market are present in almost every city in Bastar. The Maria tribes would set up their flea market near the falls on every Monday. Since Tirathgarh is mostly visited, the Bhunbhuni and the flea market can also be covered if planned well. Being closer to Tirathgarh, hence the Bhunbhuni is also accessible from the villages nearby called as Tirathgarh. The forts and the villages constructed by then king can also be viewed while travelling to Bhunbhuni.
The waterfalls is a breathtaking view in every season but to have a complete view o f the fall, monsoons are the best, hence making October to February the best time to witness the gush of the water. The fall is located 50kms from Jagdalpur on NH 221 making it a must stop for sightseeing when in Chhattisgarh.
